Engineering Embroidery 'Development'

Development

This week I have started collecting scrap bits from the metal, laser cutting and ceramic workshops. 
I have found different materials, through which I could experiment with my sample making. Also, I had the one to one tutorial this week,  had the feedback about developing, from one of m sample piece as shown in the image down below:

Marble wrapping sample. 
It was really interested to hold the heavyweight of marbles onto the light weighted organza fabric. I think if I develop it furthermore, I can make holes onto a fabric piece and try to pop-up the marbles from the holes to describe the fact of unhealthy fat growing on the skin.

Magnetic workshop

Today, I have attended a talk of Elnaz Yazdani. She is a contemporary jewellery maker and an embroidery teacher, who has done an internship with 'Iris Van Herpen'. She has talked to us about the background of some fashion designed pieces by 'Iris Van Herpen'. It was really interesting to know about the facts that a designer doesn't only work within his/her field but also works with other creative people - all together to make an interesting outcome of mixed media textiles with technology. After the talk, I had the chance to attend the 'magnetic workshop' with Elnaz Yazdani. I have created some sample pieces with the magnet, iron powder and rubber solution to give the flexible feel to the piece as shown below: Trapping materials with one-another Gravity pull by magnetism  On the ceramic scrap piece On the jersey fabric. Fashion | Form | Fabrication 'Research and Learning agreement'

Learning agreement I am doing the Fashion | Form | Fabrication project. In this project, I will be looking into a character called ‘The white witch’ from the movie Narnia played by Tilda Swinton (shown below). The white witch is the character, which represents a negative, dramatic and a fictional personality. The white witch from the movie 'the chronicles of Narnia' The idea for this project is to make a couture collar according to my character’s characteristics by showing the evilness, stiffness and emotionless character of ‘the white witch’. For this, I am making my project based on the weather winter because the white witch only survives in winter and likes to hurt people. She does not like summer because according to her, summer gives happiness to other people and harms her coldness.
